NW Cambridge good to grow
Planning has been granted for market housing at the £1 billion North West Cambridge Development, which includes landscape design by Robert Myers Associates.
This part of the Cambridge University-promoted urban extension will provide 240 new homes, to be built by Hill Residential.
Our landscape design follows best practice in terms of sustainability, water management and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). All surface water is disposed of through a network of swales and rills – which are representative of the surrounding wider landscape and provide potential new wildlife habitats – alongside underground storage tanks. Rain water is collected and re-used for irrigation purposes, and photovoltaics on the living roofs collect and store solar gain.
We have infused the various public and private spaces across the site with a distinct character and richness of detail, while using a common design language and simple palette of materials to create a strong overall framework that will engender a sense of community, and encourage outdoor activity and interaction within the neighbourhood.
