Hot shots of Swiss garden
Hot from the camera of Allan Pollok-Morris, are new photos of the garden that RMA designed for a private client in Duillier, overlooking Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Our work, between 2011 and 2013, included the landscape design and planting plans. The garden has been beautifully maintained by the client since it was completed.
While making best use of the magnificent long distance views, existing trees and other planting, our plan gave the client a variety of spaces of different characters and aspects within an overall composition that unifies the garden as a whole.
Part of the unifying scheme is a grid of pale limestone, cut in brick shapes, which runs through the lawn. The garden also feels bigger: by rotating the paving and terraces, the design accentuated the longer, diagonal axis of the garden, created a more dynamic composition and exploited the best views by drawing the eye out into the wider landscape.
